Las Américas International Airport – Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez
This airport, which operates with international flights within the Americas and some European countries, is located in Punta Caucedo, 30 km (18 miles) southeast of Santo Domingo and is one of the main airports in the Dominican Republic and one of the most important from the Caribbean. It has two terminals very close to each other and has banks, ATMs, VIP lounges, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access. The restaurants, fast food stores, ice cream parlors, cafes and bars are located on levels 1 and 3 and the second level of both terminals are duty-free shops, mini markets, souvenir shops, handicrafts, clothing, jewelry, flowers, tobacco. This airport, built in a traditional Dominican style with outdoor terminals and roofs covered with gray hair, is located 30 km (18 miles) south of the hotel complexes and resorts of Punta Cana and is one of the most important in the Caribbean in terms of international traffic and the busiest in the Dominican Republic. It operates with destinations throughout the Americas and Europe and due to traffic growth, it is in continuous expansion. It has two terminals, ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, VIP lounges, plugs for electrical devices and free Wi-Fi access. There are several restaurants, fast food stores, coffee shops and bar, some open 24 hours a day. Transportation to hotels and resorts can be done in private or shared minibuses, as well as in fixed-rate taxis. The journey takes about 15 minutes at a cost of between USD40.00-50.00.
